What effect does the awareness of ephemerality have on people and their behavior?
One focus of the project is on the fear of death: people want to try out, achieve and experience as much as possible in their relatively short time. In the process, people’s focus is increasingly directed toward their own identity and self-expression.
Not only we and thus society suffer from this system, but also nature. The permanent need for speed and novelty entails their exploitation and the thoughtless use of finite resources.
Areas that are in relation to the human being itself and describe life and the environment were examined: Individual, Consumption and Nature.
For each of these areas, two designed products symbolize the different facets: The “Individual” area is about individualization, identification, self-image and self-expression. In the “Consumption” area, needs and values are questioned, and the “Nature” area includes the question of our behavior towards nature and its effects. The design of the products stages aspects of transience and leaves room for the viewer and his own interpretation.
